Make An Asi Cable

AS-i cables include the bulk wire and connected modules.

AS-i cables are widely used in automated environments, where the simplicity of a two-wire connection is desired. AS-i interface cables are two-conductor rubber-clad wires, allowing attachment of a variety of interface modules. These modules are clamped at any point on the AS-i cable, creating an access point for connected devices. The AS-i wire comes in a bulk spool, making connection of these modules part of a completed cable.

Instructions

1. Unscrew the screw holding the AS-i module's penetrating clamp together.

2. Center the penetrating connectors on the AS-i module over the cable. The notch on the module should center perfectly over the rectangular shape of the cable.

3. Press the clamp firmly over the wires, forcing the penetrating connectors to engage the copper wire inside the cable.

4. Secure the two halves of the AS-i module by tightening the Philips screw on one half of the module's clamp.
