Lending Support Coordinator Job Description

Lending support coordinators oversee loans.


A lending support coordinator works in a bank and oversees a team of loan officers. Lending support coordinators hire, organize and direct their staffs, and often have the final say on decisions regarding loans.


Basics


Lending support officers make sure loans officers understand a bank's policies and procedures. They train and schedule their staff, often conducting performance reviews. Occasionally, they will analyze loan applications themselves.


Skills


Lending support officers must be confident leaders with exceptional organization skills. They also must possess a strong understanding of math and accounting software used to chart loan applications.


Qualifications


The majority of lending support officers are required to possess a bachelor's degree in business or accounting. Other areas of study include finance, economics and administration. Many lending support coordinators spend time as loan officers before advancing to a supervisory position.


Prospects & Earnings


Jobs for bank employees will increase by 8 percent overall through 2018, according to projections by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The BLS also estimated that employment of loan officers will increase by 13 percent. These type of workers earned anywhere from $26 to more than $47 per hour in May 2008, according to the BLS.
