Book Advertisement Ideas

Book advertisement ideas.

When you publish a book, it's natural to become consumed by the excitement of having your printed copy in your hands. But you may find it difficult to advertise and eventually sell your work to others. Publishers put out about 172,000 new books each year, so you have a significant amount of competition. Experiment with various book advertising ideas and then evaluate which of these methods works best for your book.

Blogging

Blogging is an ideal form of internet advertising for a book because it's free, you can easily create clickable links to your book, and you can write about any topic related to your book. You could also develop a list of followers who buy all of your subsequent titles as well as the current one. So set up a personal blog and set a schedule to post a new entry at least once a week. Ask the owners of popular blogs related to the subject matter of your book if you can contribute content for free as long as the blog owner posts a resource box at the end of the article with your book name and link to where the reader can purchase the title.

Bookmark Distribution

Consider hiring a street promotional team to pass out your bookmarks or flyers at major events where your target readers would likely show up. For example, if you're selling a book on home improvement, have the promotional team flyer visit a home show or flea market where people are shopping for items to beautify their homes. Go to each location with your flyer team with a few books in hand just in case people want to buy the book immediately and also to make sure the team is promoting your book properly. Make sure your promoters are friendly and willing to chat up with potential readers.

Radio Advertising at Small Stations

Some authors choose to place ads on the radio because it's a fast way to reach a large number of people at once with information about a newly released book. Try placing radio advertisements on small radio stations that reach people within your target demographic first, then if you see a trend of sales from those ads you can move to bigger stations that reach more people. Offer each customer a special deal if they mention the radio advertisement when they order, such as a free report or discount off the price. At the very least, this advertising strategy will help you gain notoriety as an author in your area.
