Advertsing is a good way to increase tourism.


Several types of entities would benefit from an advertisement campaign to promote travel. Travel agents, chambers of commerce, and cities and states all seek to highlight travel opportunities available in their area.


Developing Commercials


Creating commercials that target the specific demographic groups you believe are most likely to want to visit an area or, alternatively, more likely to take advantage of a promotion your travel agency is running for a specific destination, is often an effective way to draw in the public. You can hire a videographer to shoot your commercial or you can create your own. You should use, at a minimum, an HD camera to film your commercial in order to achieve a quality commercial. You can then hire an editor to edit your footage or edit it yourself using editing software, which ranges in price and level of complexity. There is even free editing software that can be downloaded from the Internet. Once your video is complete you can upload it to a website, video sharing websites or use it in a more traditional manner and place your commercial on TV. Remember to place your ads in areas you believe will produce the best returns.


Targeted Magazine Ads


Another means of garnering new customers for your business or visitors is to have professionals create for you, or create yourself, enticing ads that are crafted to appeal to your target demographic group (or groups). Develop ads that use terms and images that are particularly attractive to this group. For example, if you are advertising a package vacation deal to wine country then including a couple touring a winery or sipping a vintage bottle of chardonnay casually at a small cafe can be a particularly appealing images to your audience. You should then place your ad in magazines that your target audience is likely to read. To determine this you will need to conduct some research. If you are familiar with graphic software then creating your own ad can be cost efficient, if not hire a graphic artist. You can find graphic artists both by looking in your phone book (depending on where you live) or online through companies like Elance where you can select a graphic artist that best fits your needs.


Fliers, Posters and Mailers


By using a graphics program you can also develop fliers, posters and mailers that can cost less than some other forms of advertising travel packages or destinations. If you don't have photos of a location you can purchase them through sites that offers images for sale. You may also be able to find free photos in the public domain that will work for your materials. Including a special promotional price for those that receive the advertisement or even running a contest that awards prizes related to travel, be it a free vacation or a set of designer luggage, can get potential customers interested. Remember to compare bulk pricing rates before choosing a printing service.
