Easy Ways To Start Businesses Without Spending Money

It's possible to start a business, without spending a lot of money.

Starting your own business doesn't require a lot of money. For example, author Rick Smith, who started his own business with just $400 in his pocket. The simple truth is that most people don't have access to lots of money, nor do they have the ability to get grants and bank loans. They need ways to cut corners or even get free products for their company. It's entirely possible to start your own business without startup money, but you'll need to think outside the box and use all the resources at your disposal.

Start Small

Start out small, regardless of how tempted you might feel to get prime office or retail space right off the bat. When you're first starting out, reduce your overhead costs as much as possible. Work out of your own home, even devoting an extra bedroom or area of your kitchen for your work area. Purchase second hand items whenever possible and use your home computer, rather than buying a new one. Also, don't hire new employees until your business is turning a profit and you have the funds available to cover their paycheck every week.

Use Online Resources

Use the Internet to start growing your business, without spending a lot of money. Websites like Wordpress and Blogger offer free blogs, which include advertising space. Write blogs relating to the products you sell or the services you offer. For example, if you're starting a cleaning business, write posts on remove certain stains or smells. Use the blog to gain attention to your business. Then slowly start adding in information about what your business offers and how people can order. Include a price list and information on how people contact you for an order. You can even add a donation button on your blog through Paypal, where those interested can donate money to get your business going. Websites like Vista Print, even offer free products for businesses. Get business cards and other items for your business and only pay the shipping and handling.

Ask for Help

Ask for help from family and friends to get your business off the ground. Use the strengths of those individuals, such as asking a graphic designer friend to create the layout for your website or use other friends for cheap labor. Consider asking them to donate to your business by giving a small amount of money as an investor. Let each individual decide if they want shares in your company or if they'd prefer getting their money back plus interest, once your business takes off.
