Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC)


Located in New Delhi, IIMC is one of the oldest and most well-known institutes in India. IIMC offers a one-year postgraduate diploma course in Advertising and Public Relations. The course outlines the various aspects of advertising and even has a paper in Creativity and Campaign Planning. IIMC does not focus solely on the business aspect of advertising, instead gives a broad overview of both advertising and public relations. IIMC also does not have a placement service for its students. Applicants must take an entrance test designed by IIMC. Students that pass the test will qualify for an interview.

Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication (SIMC)


SIMC, offers a two-year postgraduate diploma course in Communication Management. This course gives an overview of all forms of Communication while allowing students to specialize in Advertising or Public Relations. A residential campus, SIMC applicants must take the Symbiosis National Aptitude test (SNAP) to be eligible. The course is divided into four semesters with the first two semesters focusing solely on basics of communication. SIMC also invites Speakers who are well-known in the media industry to interact and share their experiences through seminars. SIMC also has a hands-on-approach and a huge percentage of the marks are based on internships and projects.

Perhaps the most well-known college under the Symbiosis banner, SIBM has consistently maintained its reputation as one of the best business schools in India. Though this does not focus on the basics of Communication or the Creative aspect of Advertising, it may be beneficial for Media Planners and Account Executives.
