Promote Women'S Ministries

Women's ministries are an effective way to bring guests to your church.

At a time when many churches face declining membership and participation, developing and promoting effective ministries have become more important than ever before. In many modern families, children receive the bulk of their Christian education from their mothers. For this reason, placing a focus on your church's women's ministries is a good approach to foster church growth.

Instructions

1. Determine the needs of women in your church and in your community. It is important to look beyond the needs of your church when developing and promoting a new ministry. If you live in a rural community where there are a number of stay at home mothers, you may want to consider promoting your ministries to them as a way to interact with other moms. If you know there are women in your church interested in gardening, organize a garden club for them and promote it to local greenhouses and farmers markets.

2. Establish a promotion team made of church members who have talents they may be able to share. You can use members with creative skills, those who have contacts who could help promote the ministry to a wider audience, and anyone else who is willing to share their time and knowledge to ensure the ministry's success.

3. Make a list of promotion methods that are readily available in your area that would attract women to your ministry. Some possibilities include fliers handed out to local day cares and businesses, advertising in the local newspaper and utilizing social networking sites. If your area has a Christian radio station, you may be able to place a notice on their website for your ministry as well. If your ministry could serve as an ecumenical ministry in your community, consider contacting other churches and asking them to share the information with their members.

4. Develop teams to take care of different promotion methods. A team of web savvy members may be able to keep your church website and social networking information up to date and useful. Members who are able to network in town can help with word of mouth promotion. If you have team members with writing talents, ask them to contact the local newspaper for permission to submit an article. If the newspaper declines, ask whether they would be willing to send a reporter to your church to visit the ministry and write a feature article.

5. Make a spreadsheet to track your promotion methods. When guests visit your ministry, ask them how they heard about the opportunity and make note of it. This will make future promotions more effective, because you will know which methods work and which are not successful.
