Sell Homemade Jewelry To Stores

It's important to display jewelry properly.

Stores do at times accept or purchase homemade jewelry to add to their inventory. Major retailers have corporate buyers who make decisions about purchases. Unless you live in an area where there is a corporate office, it's best to market your jewelry to smaller stores and shops. Having the jewelry displayed attractively is important. If the store cannot provide a proper display, then you should include one. Bracelet bars and necklace boxes should be used to prevent tangling.

Instructions

1. Create attractive displays for your jewelry. Six to eight bracelets are sufficient for a bracelet bar. If they are smaller you may be able to add a couple more.

2. Place necklaces in boxes with a cotton lining or on display cards. Make sure each piece of jewelry is tagged for price and content.

3. Place brooches in smaller boxes or on a velvet-covered display board.

4. Create a photo album that contains good photos of the pieces available. Update the album as pieces are sold.

5. Visit stores and shops where you would like to see your jewelry being sold. Consider leaving them on consignment if the owner or buyer is not interested in making an outright purchase.

6. Write out a sales order for each store that makes a purchase and have a consignment agreement available when it's needed. Remember that selling to stores requires that you have wholesale prices, which cuts into your profits.
