Reduce Airline Fares

Airline travel is one of the most convenient and fastest ways to travel. Airlines are constantly competing for your business and loyalty. Finding the best airfare deals will take a little time and research. However, in the end the benefit or lowering your airfare will be worth it.

Instructions

1. Book your airline ticket through a third-party website such as, priceline.com, hotwire.com or cheapseats.com. To compete for your business many airlines offer a lower unpublished rate to third-party websites.

2. Plan your trip or vacation in advance to lower your airfare. Purchase your airline tickets as far in advance as possible. Anything over 21 days most airlines consider to be an advance ticket, which will lower your airfare.

3. Check onine using a search engine for websites that offer promotional codes that can lower airfare such as retailmenot.com. Promotional codes are like airline discount coupons, they will help you save on your airfare when you make your reservations online. Often the airline companies will offer special promo codes on their website.

4. Check with friends and family to see if they work in the travel industry or with an airline company. Often employees of the travel industry or airline companies can make airline reservation for their friends and immediate family at a lower rate.

5. Check with low-cost airlines for your destination and purchase your ticket with them. Low cost airless, such as JetBlue Airlines, are airline companies that offer a lower fare without the amenities of a major airline. For example, they do not offer first class seating nor assigned seating.

6. If you are a AAA or AARP member call the airlines directly to see if they offer a lower rate for your membership. Also call the travel department for AAA and inquire if they have a lower airfare.

7. Consider flying into a smaller or neighborhood airport and driving to your destination to lower your airfare. Use a search engine to locate a small airport near your destination.
