Teach Spanish Abroad For A Year

Teach Spanish Abroad

Applying for a Spanish teaching position abroad is not that difficult and many foreign language schools prefer to hire bilingual teachers, especially for adult learners. Today, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world, and many professionals are realizing that they need to learn Spanish for work purposes. This means there is a great deal of opportunity worldwide for Spanish language teachers. However, listings for Spanish teaching positions are not as readily available as are English teaching ones, so you have to be a bit more creative in finding available positions.

Instructions

1. Get certified as a Spanish foreign language teacher. There are many colleges and online schools that offer this option, and certification only takes a few months. Many of these schools also have international job boards where you can apply for a year's internship.

2. Look for jobs at private language schools in other countries. Schools like Berlitz, Spanish Abroad, or Don Quixote often have branches in several different Spanish speaking countries.

3. Find out if your college or university has a teacher exchange program and apply to teach Spanish for a year.

4. Look for work as an online Spanish Facilitator. Many language schools offer online courses and need teachers to tutor, grade papers, or work with individual students. Contact these online schools and send them a copy of your resume.

5. Look for Spanish language schools in the yellow pages of the city where you want to reside. Contact these schools and e-mail them your resume.

6. Check to see if there are any American, Canadian or European manufacturing companies in the area in which you wish to live. These companies often contract the services of a private teacher to teach their executives Spanish. Contact their corporate offices in the United States, express your interest and send them a resume. If you are in the foreign country, contact the personnel department at the foreign company office.

7. Look on Internet job boards like Craigslist. Often language schools or people seeking a Spanish teacher will advertise there.
