About Oxford England

Oxford, England is home to the prestigious Oxford University. It is also one of the oldest established cities in England, dating back to the 10th century.


College


Oxford University has been home to scholars for over 800 years. The city is known as the "City of Dreaming Spires" because of the scholars that have studied and lived at the university.


Harry Potter


The Great Hall at Christ Church is the inspiration behind Hogwart's dining hall in the Harry Potter books. The Great Hall was actually used in the filming of the movies for scenes set in Hogwart's quadrangle.


Museum


Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is the oldest museum in the world to be open for the public.


Hitler


During World War II Hitler never bombed or targeted Oxford. He planned to make Oxford the capital of England at the end of the war.


Future


With technology companies, shopping malls and night clubs thriving alongside older institutions, Oxford is a historic city that embraces the future.
