Beauty Salon Design Ideas

Designate an area in your salon for shampooing.

Visiting a beauty salon is a necessity for people concerned with their appearances or just want a clean look. People will look for a homey and professional environment before settling for a salon as their best option. Creating an attractive and conducive environment in your beauty salon will attract customers because most will judge the salon on a first-impression basis.

Equipment and Furniture

Select your furniture appropriately. Choose a theme and shop accordingly. You can settle on one theme or a cocktail of several themes. The options range from antique, contemporary to modern. Accessorize your furniture with cushions and flower vases on tabletops to create a beautiful indoor ambiance. Let your equipment and furniture complement each other in theme and style. Add curtains on windows or for partitions to accentuate your theme.

Walls and Ceilings

Define your theme with the walls and ceiling, as they are the main focal points. Base your colors on your theme and clientele. If your clientele is unisex, blend bright and bold colors; for a punk and funky salon, bright colors in conspicuous patterns work best. For an antique theme, mix earthy and metallic colors. Add wall hangings and/or posters to make walls more interesting. Invest in hexagonal, octagonal, triangular or round mirrors on your wall; mirrors create an illusion of space.

Lights

Invest in high-quality lighting and use as much natural light as possible. If natural light is unavailable, maximize on artificial light. Put lamps over service areas to illuminate the clients' hair; this will help you judge the texture and color. Have a lighting system to keep the salon bright. Different switches for each light give you control over your lighting system.

Space

Use your space appropriately; it is the ultimate determinant of your salon's outlook. Have a defined reception area with couches and a coffee table to create a homey environment. Separate the areas for shampooing, hair and beauty and reception. Define each area, and, if privacy is required, create partitions using curtains or construct walls. Keep the salon clutter-free with well-defined traffic areas. Use well-designed storage space; blend it with your theme or contrast it to create a focal point.
