Become A Tv Commercial Actress

Actresses crave the camera's attention.

Acting for commercials can be a lucrative job, but this field is competitive and filled with some eager people. You have an advantage if you have a marketable look and you have high availability because you concentrate solely on your acting career. However, it is certainly possible to become a TV commercial actress even if you have a relatively generic look and can't dedicate a great deal of time to pursuing your acting career.

Instructions

Become a TV Commercial Actress

1. Hone your talents. The great thing about acting is that just about any talent can go on your résumé. For example, if you can speak additional languages, if you have dancing experience or even if you know juggle, list these items on your acting résumé. A variety of talents can increase your chances of landing a commercial acting job. After all, casting agents can choose from a wide pool of talented actors, but if the commercial calls for a special talent, then this can make you stand out in the crowd.

2. Perfect your look. You don't have to be a supermodel to get commercial acting gigs, but it helps if you understand what your look is. If you look more like a housewife than a bombshell, accept your look and work with it. If you intend on landing roles as a young and beautiful commercial actress then spend a great deal of time on enhancing your physical appearance, because the competition is fierce among this genre of commercial actresses.

3. Get some experience. Even participating in community theater can enhance your résumé, because it's considered experience. Consider doing some work as a movie extra, which can be grueling and time-consuming but is valuable experience. Contact the public television channels in your area to find out if they accept volunteers for public service announcements. You won't get paid for these spots, but the experience will help you.

4. Find an agent. In large metropolitan areas you can find agents who specialize in commercial actors, and in some instances you can find an agent who limits representation to female clients. In less densely populated areas, you may have to get an agent who represents a wide variety of acting clients. Getting a competent agent increases the odds of landing commercial acting jobs.

5. Go to auditions. Your agent may find auditions for you or you might find them on your own, but you can't rely on getting randomly "discovered" by someone on the street who wants to put you in a commercial. If you want to be successful with your commercial acting career, spend time auditioning for jobs. Always put your best foot forward at these auditions and don't hold anything back; this is your time to prove that you deserve to be a representative of whatever the client is trying to sell.
