Put A Widget In Tumblr

Adding a widget to Tumblr can help enhance your site and integrate additional functionality within the existing themes. A widget is a small application that lives within a blog theme and adds special functions to the site, such as Google Calendar or Flickr photo galleries. Tumblr takes microblogging sites, such as Twitter, to the next level by providing simple tools for short posts including multiple content formats, such as video, audio and photos.

Instructions

1. Access your Tumblr dashboard using your account login information. Your dashboard will appear automatically once you log in.

2. Activate the customization screen by selecting the "Customize" link underneath the title of your Tumblr on the right side of your dashboard. Your customization screen will appear automatically once this link is chosen. This screen allows you to adjust theme options and appearances and add external sites, such as Twitter or Facebook.

3. Select the "Info" tab at the top-left side of the navigation menu. This activates a drop-down menu to adjust the information associated with the site, such as the title and portrait photo. The options may vary based on the theme you've chosen.

4. Paste the HTML code from your widget into the "Description" box. The HTML code for the widget must be obtained from the website of the widget developer. For example, to install an information bar from www.HelloBar.com, insert the following HTML code in this box.

new HelloBar(# from your account);

The Hello Bar is a simple web toolbar that engages users and communicates a call to action.

5. Press "Save + Close" from the top-right side of the navigation bar to preserve all adjustments to your theme.
