Advertising Account Executive Training

It takes specific training and time to earn the position of an advertising account executive.

An advertising account executive links the advertising, public relations or marketing company to the client. Becoming an advertising account executive is not a career that a person just walks into. It takes a path and certain training to successfully become an advertising account executive. The typical training consists of a college degree, internships and career advancement.

College

This career placement is typically given to people who have earned a bachelor's or master's degree in advertising, public relations or marketing. Other majors that can break into this career include business administration, communications, telecommunications, journalism, sales or management. Some technical advertising agencies see degrees in engineering and science as beneficial.

Internship

An internship is the bridge for the gap between studying the industry and working in the industry. A good internship for an advertising agency can provide training necessary to fully understand what an advertising account executive does.

Advancement

Even with the required training many companies will not hire a newcomer into an advertising account executive position because this person will be working with their trusted clients and money earners. They need to know you are loyal to the company, and understand the client and the industry. Proper training typically requires beginning with a company as an assistant, receptionist or related position and advancing.
