Promote A Music Concert Event For Profit

Anticipate your draw to turn a profit when promoting a music concert.

Whether you're in a professional band or just a promoter looking to make money off of a show, you'll need to know promote a music concert event for profit. Drawing people out to a concert and turning a profit can be a risky venture. You can better your chances of profiting off of a music concert event by budgeting correctly, creating flyers, organizing a street team, alerting local media and finding co-sponsors.

Instructions

1. Analyze your market, promotion history and draw potential to determine which type of concert is best to pursue. For example, it's not wise to attempt to promote a music concert event featuring all unknown out-of-town bands, nor is it prudent to rent out a 1,000-capacity venue when you've only promoted concerts that drew 50 people.

2. Find a local venue that will accommodate your anticipated draw for the cheapest price. Renting out a church basement or throwing your music concert event at a house will be much cheaper than renting out your area's biggest music venue, for example. At the same time, people may be more likely to come out to a venue they've heard of, so keep this in mind.

3. Ask local promoters and businesses to co-sponsor your music concert event. This will help ease the burden of cost to promote the event and will give your event credibility and visibility, leading to a potentially bigger draw and higher profits.

4. Design and print eye-catching flyers. You can design these yourself or hire a student to design them for you to cut back on costs. Don't sacrifice a quality design to save a few dollars, however. A professional looking flyer is more likely to draw people out to your music concert event than an amateur looking one.

5. Organize a street team to distribute your flyers and spread the word about your music concert event. Offer freebies like CDs and stickers to street teamers to entice them to the position.

6. Alert local media to your music concert event. Send press releases and flyers to area newspapers, magazines and radio stations. Post information about your music concert event on local blogs, forums and bulletin boards.
